Dog Days of Summer
The children spent the entire summer begging for a dog. Signs appeared throughout the house with slogans like "Dogs: Man's Best Friend" and "A Vote For Dogs Is A Vote For America!" (I'm not kidding.) Every time they put a dish in the sink or hung up a jacket, they pointed it out. "See, I'm responsible enough to have a dog."
So I have been worn down. We decided a Golden Retriever was the way to go, and started a search. Mark wanted a puppy, not a grown dog. Caroline wanted a Rescued Dog from the pound. I wanted a furry dog (more fun to pet). And Colin wanted a little dog, maybe a teacup poodle, but was overruled by his Daddy, who feels that would be a poor reflection on his own manliness.
So we finally found a dog on the Internet that looked likely, and went to see it. Great dog. Sweet dog. Cuddly dog. Dog has a sibling. Awww, we can't separate the dogs! So it is possible that we will end up with two dogs.
I am such a sucker.
