Jusrassic Lies

Colin has a keen interest in Paleontology lately, which I certainly encourage. However, at times it does stretch the limits of my knowledge and my patience.

I'm in the middle of some household chore or another, where I can't get to a computer easily, and he starts pestering me.

Colin: What period did the dinosaurs live in?
Me: Jurassic (I'm just guessing here. I hope I'm right.)
Colin: What period are we in now?
Me: Um... the Modern period.
Colin: Yeah, but what is it called?
Me: That is what it's called. (Oh, God! He's getting too smart for me.)
Colin: What period is the very first period?
Me: Um... (I have no clue)... the Thoracic (Thank heavens he can't read yet.)
Colin: What was the Cretaceous period?
Me: Er... that's when lobsters were invented.
Colin: When did life begin?
Me: During the uh, Triaminic period (sounds good to me)

How did a five year old get too smart for me?

Not Of General Interest

Caroline comes downstairs and says to Colin, "I just did the most AWESOME thing!"

Colin, who is watching tv intently, ignores her.

So she repeats, "Colin, I just did the most AWESOME thing!" at which point Colin turns to her with annoyance and snaps
"SO GO DO IT AGAIN!"
